In case you just woke up from a 16-year coma, you should know that Jennifer Aniston divorced Brad Pitt, spent several of her most fertile years wallowing in mediocre movies and finally got engaged to Justin Theroux.

Last night she went on Chelsea Lately to cry-talk about her engagement and that’s all anyone’s talking about today. You know the people who talk about what happened on Chelsea Lately every single morning. There are six of them. I’m sure you know them.

But little known fact, Sandra Bullock also showed up on last night’s show — and she showed up naked in the shower with Chelsea Handler. You know, just to offer her some advice on her show and how to act and what not to do in communal showers.

What? Why?

Look, don’t ask questions. Questions are for people who watch network late night shows. (But I do think Lena Dunham’s naked cupcake eating binge has something to do with this.)

Just accept that it happened and it was funny and it really made me like Sandra Bullock. Which is good because we’ve been on shaky ground since she agreed to Miss Congeniality 2.

Then again watching this made me realize the biggest problem in that film was that she wasn’t simultaneously showering and giving constructive criticism to other celebrities the entire time. Well the other problem could be the film didn’t need to be made. But that’s a blog rant for another day.

Sometimes I worry that there’s no hope for love in this cruel, cruel world. If two people who meet on a television show and get engaged after like thirty days can’t make it in the real world, then who can?? Certainly not the people who meet in more conventional ways like singles mixers and Okcupid…or like, actually in person. But as impossible as it sounds, it’s happened again. Emily Maynard, the star of the most recent season of The Bachelorette and her chosen bachelor, Jef Holm, may have split up. Although their rep won’t respond to the rumors, they haven’t been seen out in weeks and have substantially scaled down the amount of time they’ve been spending together. I know what you’re thinking — Emily just can’t seem to catch a break. This is the second guy in a row that she’s met through a reality TV show, gotten engaged to, and then broken up with. She’s obviously doing everything right, so why isn’t the universe rewarding her?
Emily was previously engaged to Brad Womack, who proposed to her on the finale of his season of The Bachelor, but then the two broke up later because OH OF COURSE THEY DID. I’m sorry, but we are living in a crazy world. This is a woman who says she wants a serious relationship, and a partner, and a father for her daughter…so why are you looking on television? You’re a beautiful woman, why don’t you just hang out at some classy bars or make an online dating profile, or — horror of horrors — just be single for a second! I have no personal experience in the matter, but why would you want the first days of your relationship to be in front of a camera? Or on a date with ten other guys? Or on a crystalline beach in The Bahamas? Every moment that you’re together, from then on, is gonna feel false in some way, because all of a sudden the cameras are gonna be off, and it’s gonna be just the two of you, and your kid is gonna be screaming, and you’re cursing the humidity somewhere in North Carolina. It’s a pretty bleak picture, but I have to believe it happens to everybody, because pretty much no one is able to continue their relationships after the show ceases filming.
Particularly with the isolation after the show, and the media attention, and the pressure. It’s just not a good way to start a relationship, and as someone who has a young daughter, Ricki, I urge you to GET IT TOGETHER, Emily. Next time you meet a guy I don’t even want to know about it until you’ve known each other at least twenty-four hours.

‘It was Davido, not Wande I was talking to’ – Dr SID confirms audio leak

Dr SID says the other person engaged in the conversation was pop star Davido…

Dr SID has spoken.

Apparently confirming the authenticity of the leaked conversation, he asked this newspaper to ‘upload the full conversation’ while informing us that it was Davido, not Wande Coal he had that particular discussion with.

SID took to Twitter last night, to clarify that it was  NOT Wande Coal’s voice but pop singer Davido‘s that was in the leaked recording.

‘@theNetng before I respond to ur post please upload the full convo and for the record the person u call wande coal is actually @iam_davido‘, @IamDrSID wrote on his Twitter page.

It is now being rumoured that the leak was orchestrated by former Mo’Hits hype man Edward Chukuma-Jiah better known as Special Ed who may have been present when Dr SID was arguing with Davido. We could not immediately confirm this.

The motive? Special Ed along with Davido have since parted ways with the MAVIN crew after issues came up over trying to score a Wande Coal collaboration on his debut album ‘Omo Baba Olowo: The Genesis‘. Special Ed is seen with Davido and the HKN crew – in his videos and several locations, and he still works the stage with D’banj.

A few minutes after NET broke the story, Special Ed tweeted ‘U know say! @ d end of the day I will alwaiz b ah bad man!!!!‘ Davido immediately retweeted him.

We are yet to receive any response from Davido’s camp as our E-mails have not been replied at the time of this report.

Tina Okpara, the 13-year-old teenage girl who was reported to be serially raped by former Super Eagles defender Godwin Okpara has released a book, detailing how the sexual assault went on for two years.

In the book titled ‘My life has a Price‘, Tina narrates her life as a rape victim; being adopted at the age of 13 by the footballer Godwin and his wife Linda in France.

In 2008, the Opkaras were charged to court for maltreating Tina for five years. Godwin was sentenced to 10 years while his wife Linda faced 15 years.

In an interview with The News magazine, Tina says her decision to write the book seven years after she regained freedom, aims at ‘raising awareness and helping other girls who might be going through the same horrendous experience’.

‘One day, I told myself that if I refused testifying, other girls will continue to experience modern slavery’, she said

‘The day she spat it on my face that schooling was not for me because I was too stupid, I lost all hope. These notebooks were used to dump all my sorrow, all my hatred for Linda. It was my lifeline and my friend,’ she added.

The 188-page book, originally written in French, has just been translated into English.

Godwin is currently serving a 10-year jail term while his wife Linda is serving 15 years.

M.I saves accident victims

During the early hours of Saturday, October 13, 2012, Chocolate City rapper, M.I came across a gruesome accident along Ikorodu road, Lagos, involving four people, and called for help via social media.
The rapper tweeted, ‘I’m presently at the scene of a serious accident…We have been here for almost an hour.. And no rescue service!!! Any one that can help. Opposite Obanikoro estate on Ikorodu road. One passenger looks like they are still alive and can make it.. But we need towing trucks and jaws of life to save him… Pls help. At least 3 girls dead, the driver still alive’.

The rapper, who was still there when the emergency services arrived, saw them pull out one of the passengers “One girl has been removed from the car and is dead… Pretty young girl.. My God…” 

At about 4 a.m, when NET got to the site of the incident, the rapper and his team had left, and the victims had been taken away but a few people were gathered near the scene, watching officials of the Lagos State Transport Monitoring Agency (LASTMA) clear the debris and tow the damaged car, a white Toyota Camry with plate number, TF787KJA, away from the road.

Although no one could say for sure what the cause of the accident of the accident was, a few of the onlookers who spoke to us on the grounds of anonymity, assumed it was a case of either over speeding, drink-driving or both, as they suspect the victims could have been coming from a club.
One onlooker, a man in his late forties said ‘I’m sad and speechless, look at the damage. The way these youths ride cars these days, one just has to be prayerful. They speed so much…I pity these ones o, it’s such a loss’. As the conversations and speculation continued on the sidelines, the LASTMA officials busied themselves with removing the street light which fell on the car and hindered the flow of traffic.
Meanwhile, one of the officials confirmed to us that the accident was indeed ghastly, with only two survivors out of the four passengers. He added that they were all taken to the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre. A doctor in the hospital, speaking anonymously, claimed that only one victim was admitted and has been responding to treatment.
M.I and his team were returning from Club Octopus, the venue of the Hennessy Artistry event, where he performed alongside Naeto C.
Reports from his team reveal that although the artiste found the sight shocking, he is presently at home, and in good condition.
However, he had a few words for drivers, which he shared on twitter: ‘Pls, people drive safely home, buckle up for safety and do not drink and drive. Also don’t let your drunk friends drive.’

Just when we were thinking the D’banj-Don Jazzy saga was ending, yet another controversy has come up- this time former Mo’Hits-now-MAVIN records act Dr SID plays the leading role in the ‘never-ending’ movie.

A secret recording which has leaked will stir up more controversies and give us a little more insight as to why the former ‘supergroup’ broke up with bosses – D’banj and Don Jazzy parting ways.

Dr SID in the recording, obtained exclusively by NET, is heard talking in a rather upset tone about how his former label boss D’banj’s personality was over-shining his and the rest of the crew members.

‘Why don’t they know my name? Because your brand and star is too much it is overshadowing‘, Dr SID angrily said.

Wande Coal however had another opinion; he argued back and forth with Dr SID, explaining that it was D’banj that actually brought them to the limelight.

‘Guuuy, it’s not that, D’banj can help anybody, ….If not for D’banj nobody would have looked at Wande, guy I dey lie? Men, I don’t know‘, Wande argued back.

Not convinced, Dr SID argues ‘Batman and Robin, who them dey call? Na D’banj na. D’banj did more negative than positive for my career‘.

The date of the recording is not known but sources close to the camp say it is just a few weeks old.

‘It is a well known fact that Dr SID and D’banj have been having inside brawls even though he (D’banj) was the one that dragged him into Mo’Hits back then‘, a source close to the MAVIN camp tells us in anonymity.

Several sources insist Dr SID was one of the persons who engineered the Mo’Hits split. ‘He wanted to always be as big as D’banj. Wande was content as the fan favourite, D’Prince is okay as long as his elder brother makes the money‘, our source continues. SID and D’banj reportedly clashed severally during the Mo’Hits years.

NET has also gathered that all doesn’t seem to be well in the MAVIN camp; with Wande Coal allegedly telling close friends that his boss Don Jazzy might not have the financial capacity required to carry the group. But donating N2m to cancer patient Funmi Lawal weeks back, amongst other philanthropic gestures, would make anyone perish the thought of  the possibility of the producer being broke.
