The surname controversy between separated couple Saidi and Fathia Balogun gets messier with each statement they release.
Saidi Balogun is now alleging that only
two of Fathia Balogun’s three children are actually his, explaining that
Fathia’s first child is from a different husband.
The Nollywood actor was reacting to a
statement from Fathia’s rep who claimed that the actor is bent on Fathia
dropping his last name.
In a statement written on his Facebook
page, he said the whole court process was to get them legally divorced
since they have been separated for seven years and not drop the name.
‘Yesterday I was accused of lying to
the press on a recent rumour that has been circulating. I separated from
my ex-wife Fathia Balogun in 2006, over 7 years ago. Since we were
legally married in court, we had to legally divorce in court to finalize
the issue. The public is welcome to go to the Lagos High Court to
verify these records. This has absolutely nothing to do with any name! I
am not asking or forcing Fathia to stop using the name Balogun, as it
is one of the most common Yoruba names’, Saidi wrote.
He then opened up on the number of children Fathia has for him: ‘Furthermore,
to set the record straight, Fathia and I had TWO children together NOT
THREE. Fathia’s first child is from a different husband that she later
divorced before we were married’, he wrote.
